This is the traditional recipe made in northern Mexico. Ingredient measurements should be followed exactly as shown in instructions; water quantity may vary depending on desired mixture texture. This recipe makes about 18 tortillas. 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon of salt ½ teaspoon of baking powder 3.5 oz — vegetable shortening (cut into very small pieces) 1 cup of very hot water

The first time I tried your recipe my tortillas puffed up nicely. The second time my mother in law butted in and they came out stiff. I saw her use a cloth to press ‘em down. Anyway thank you very much.
wow, thank you
thanks, blanca, great video!
I made tortillas for the first time and they came out great! I am still learning how to make them more round, however they were still very tasty!
@frootloops116 The song is Linus and Lucy from the Charlie Brown movies.

@Programs4You
shortening is fat, either vegetable or animal fat
Hey Blanca!!! thanx so much. you are very kind!!!!! gonna go and get flour right now!!!!
Thanks to the beautiful lady I just made some rather tasty tortillas!
I went with the vegetable oil method because I don’t know what shorting is.
And I had to use flour to help roll them, but they turned out better than I had hoped!
1.10 electronic balance to weigh the tortilla dough.
Thanks.. the girl in the vid should be a hand model…
i;m gonna try this. thanks! c”,)k
nice video i like that
I think you should do half and half or start with a little white flour first. I am an experienced baker and wheat flour is pretty hard to work with if yuo use all wheat flour.
Thanks man! High five.
@SethHesio Good catch, Einstein.
Good video….actual way to make flour tortillas. Letting the dough rest is key for the tortilla to be soft and not doughy. Great job!
thanx, gonna try this tonight with our beans! I am native amer. (indian) and i make frybread. I feel that a real woman should always know how to make bread with her own two hands and from scratch! It’s a beautiful thing.
what if I want to use whole wheat flour?
It is Charlie Brown
She’s really beautiful.
The music reminds me of Charlie Brown…
Just tried this – the first two I rolled out were a bit too thick but once I started making them thinner they were great!
Thanks!
