Please visit me at americanhomecanning.com for more great information about home canning. I can also be found at www.homesteadgardenandpantry.com and every day at http Green beans are a low acid food. The only dependably safe method of home canning low acid food is with a pressure canner. This video will show you how.

@SweetSassyfrassy -
No. Most pressure canners have about 1 1/2″ of water in the bottom. Read the manufactures instructions for your pressure canner.
Please see HOME CANNING BASICS – Part 5 for more information
This is going to be a dumb question; when you put your jars into the pressure canner, do they have to be submerged in the water. I am not sure whether to cover them completely, or exactly how much water should be in the canner. Thanks!
@MrsLadybuggin
Presto and Mirro both make a very good pressure canner for under $100. They are dependable and will last for years with care.
Good luck
New to canning. Would anyone know what type of canner I should start with? I am on a limited budget but would like one that would do the job right. Thanks so much.
@Davethemusicmaid Thank you but I am not sure if that is true.
@TeacherPhilEnglish thank you!
@SKTPSY the vitamin value of cooked beans is 60% of raw beans. All calories and protein are the same.
Just watched the whole canning series,
Many thanks for your hard work in up loading these. they where most excellent.
@SKTPSY doesn’t the nutritional value just go into the water?
Nutrient value might be so low -it is not worth eating, I guess. I love watching canning but not sure about it.
Thank you, great video. We will be canning both with water bath and pressure cooker for the first time. Your video offers a concise safe way to pressure can.
O.k., you guys win, I guess I’ll start canning green beans! And by the way mullets are making a comeback!
And by the way Mrs. I happen to love homemade green beans, much better taste, and no chemicals. My girlfriend loves canning. =)
wow, you truly are a fuckin idiot. If you have no interest in canning beans why the fuck are you here? and then to top it all of you start bashing on someone for TRUE documented information direct from the Department of Agriculture?. Do some research and look into the splicing of a gene from an arctic cod into a type of corn and you will see what that lady is talking about.
To talk to a woman like that shows your cowardice. I would enjoy smashing your teeth out.
LOL….nice mullet…
Whats the matter with me? I simply make a coment a dumb video, and some self rightous goof (is that better) pushes his/her crap on me, and I’m sitting around on a Sunday afternoon with nothing better to do then respond to your nonsense!
Little old lady? I think she knew that by stating such nonsense, she would gain sympathy from fools like you who would believe anything. By the way I’m a great grandfather, and am next in line to be the pope!
I don’t know what’s more weird…..the fact that you are trolling a video on how to can green beans….or the fact that you are harassing a little old lady over the internet..your parents must be so proud!
fail more pls….
Oh ok. So don’t believe the reports from the USDA Is that what you are saying?
Good grief, you need to stop with the name calling, what in the world is the matter with you?
I’m a woman, also I’m a grandmother. You should be ashamed at how you talk to people.
It is not “bogus”
Between 1995 and 2004, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the percentage of GMO soy and corn planted in the United States has ballooned from 7 percent to 85 percent, and from 1.5 percent to 45 percent.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Your ignorance is astounding to be honest.
I suggest you shut your pie hole, son. You are clearly unaware that I don’t give a shit about your bogus bullshit.
I suggest you educate yourself son. You clearly are unaware of the GMO situation.
Oh, I did’nt expect such a stupid response. Save your bullshit conspericy theorys for someone else you paranoid asshole.
Because the green beans you buy in the store more than likely have been doused with an array of herbicides and pesticides. Also the majority of food from the store now is GMO food. I prefer not to eat food that has been spliced with the genes from bacteria or animals. Growing your own organically is ALWAYS better.

I love my pressure canner…I can every weekend, it’s comfort work, and makes me feel self sufficient. Not only that, where else can you get five star tarragon chicken with green beans off the shelf!
